The Hawthorns pub - history
The Hawthorns public house was originally built as a house on the corner of Birmingham Road and Halfords Lane in West Bromwich around circa 1840.
A Stucco house with hipped slate roof.
The house was rebuilt by Henry Halford an iron merchant who lived there between circa 1833 and 1846.
It probably became a public house for West Bromwich Albion football fans by the early 20th century.

In it's later years it was the Hawthorn's Banqueting Suite, by 2008.
But the building was unused from 2011 until 2015, when it was converted into a Greggs.
Greggs was open to the public by the end of 2015.
As well as a bakery shop, it's also a cafe now, with West Bromwich Albion interiors and black and white photographs on the walls.
